We will provide the following competitions :

C64 Demo Competition.
C64 Music Competition.
C64 Graphics Competition.
Atari Demo Competition.
Oldskool Demo Competition.
Oldskool Music Competition.
Oldskool Graphics Competition.
Alternative Competitions.

General Rules :

- Submit your entry before the deadline.
- Disks will not be returned.
- Your entry will be released at X-2004.
- Your entry or part of it may not have been released before the party.
- Racism is not allowed.
- The organizers keep the right to disqualify any entry.
- Your entry must work 100% on the compo machine.
- Your entry must be completely finished.

All compo entries will be available on the internet shortly after X-2004.

C64 Competitions :

- Compo machine will be an unexpanded C64, OLD SID, 1541-II, cartridge (Action Replay 6)
- For the music competition a choice can be made between
a C64 with OLD or NEW sid, meaning to say both will be present.
Your entry will be played for a total time of 3 minutes, and no longer. Thus, if it's longer it will be cut off.
- For both the music and graphics competition no visible signature of the artist may be shown during the display of the actual work, thus the production should be tagless. No pre-screens with additional information are allowed either. At request, artists should be able to hand over working stages.
- Your entry must be on a standard c64 5.25 DD disk.

Atari Demo Competition :

- Falcon demo's must run on Atari Falcon030 with 14mb RAM and FPU.
- ST demo's Must run on unexpanded Atari 1040STf.
- 8-bit atari demo's must run on a standard Atari XL/XE system. (Bring your own machine.)
- If you use a different configuration, please bring your own machine, or contact us to check if we can run it on available hardware before the competition. The exact config will be announced before the demo is shown


Oldskool demo competition :

- Any Oldskool machine is allowed, preferably 8-bit/16-bit, like e.g. MSX1, MSX2, Spectrum, Vectrex, Colecovision, Amiga, VIC20, Gameboy, etc.
- Record/Deliver your demo in .AVI format, or bring your own machine (capable of outputting standard video signal).

Oldskool graphics competition :

- Graphics for any oldskool machine are allowed, preferably 8-bit/16-bit, like e.g. MSX1, MSX2, Spectrum, Vectrex, Colecovision, Amiga, VIC20, Gameboy, etc.
- Machine specs will be visible for each entry.
- Deliver in PC-viewable format (GIF/BMP/PCX).
- Max. 32-colors

Oldskool music competition :

- Music format/number of channels will be visible for each entry.
- Only FM/Custom-chip music allowed.
- Maximum of 8 channels.
- Deliver in WAV/MP3 (PC-playable) format (except C64-SID).


Compo Prizes :

As X-2004 is a non-commercial party, therefore expect no major prices for the compo-winners.
Prizes, if any, are mainly subject to external sponsorship and depend on the number of visitors.

If you submitted your entry via e-mail you will not receive any prize at all (just the fame).
